Unlike other adventures the bird had recently embarked on, the work lay less in the activity itself, and more in the getting to it. She would admit that sledding mostly scared her. It was a bit of a game of chance – marked by a vague ability to control direction, speed or, for that matter, stopping. And yet the bird repeated the climb again and again, feeling the reward of the rush, was well worth the effort.

Bird on Kayak
A waterfowl she was not, or so she’d been told. A bird of her kind might dip a toe from time to time, but never fully submerge. But as crisp mountain runoff crested around her, shooting her quickly downstream, she realized the absurdity of such comments. A bird is not always what she seems.
Bird on Tire Swing
In his opinion, it was one of the best ways to spend a late afternoon. The gentle breeze on his face came and went with each back and forth swing. His scarf, always a step behind, would tangle and escape rhythmically. The feathered bird, with nowhere to go, decided quickly that this was certainly the way to fly.

Bird on Hike
She set out to conquer the world. Not by winged ascent, as flying at this altitude made her nervous. She preferred to go by foot. The thin air refreshed, rather than depleted her and she soaked up the sun like a solar panel. The bird continued on masterfully, nary once stopping to contemplate the next step.
Abstract Bird Finished
The boyfriend doesn’t really get behind Valentines Day. I do though, so he’s getting this as a gift! The drawing of this abstract bird was completed years ago. I’m hoping he’ll be pleasantly surprised by the addition of color he’s been wanting added to it.
Boyfriend’s Bird Continued
I was able to take a bit of time today to work more on the boyfriend’s abstract bird. It’s getting ever closer – as is my being moved into the new studio! You can see the mess we started with below. Hopefully I’ll have both the bird and the studio conquered by the end of the week…
The Boyfriend’s Abstract Bird
The boyfriend has always wanted this strange, abstract bird to be colorful. My guess is he thinks wild rainbow colors would be best. I tend to think subtle color will win out. He’ll still get a colorful bird. My apologies about the sub-par pictures. With my current move, the camera was not around to take pics, and I was in a bit too much of a rush to get good light on this guy. Better pictures to come!
Bird on Skis
Had you asked him yesterday, he would have said his forte – in fact his love – was biking. But sometimes a bird must spread his wings. And upon feeling the smoothness of snow to ski, he momentarily forgot about the wheels he rode. The bird embraced the crisp, cold mountain air and reveled in his proximity to the sky.

I’ve taken my Bird on Bike and plunged him into the throes of winter!
