Arting for 365 Day 306: Stitched Landscape

Day 306, 4 x 6" Ink on stitched paper

Day 306, 4 x 6″ Ink on stitched paper

Goal: To create one piece of art each day for 365 consecutive days

I was really hoping to get the painting I was working on finished for today’s post. Turns out that was a pipe dream. Instead I completed a smaller piece yesterday.

Not wanting to tear up nice, new big sheets of paper, I found a bunch scraps and stitched them together, then proceeded to draw a very simple design. I didn’t think I’d like this piece as much as I do. Something about the softness of the paper, the simple lines and the way the work is physically bound together while maintaining individual parts pleases me.

  1. What an appealing – and clever – piece. I love how the image formality opposes the rougher stitching. And it’s a smart use of paper in an unexpected way.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to post them here.
