Arting for 365 Day 297: Pushing a Sphere

Day 297, 8 x 10" pierced paper

Day 297, 8 x 10″ pierced paper

Goal: To create one piece of art each day for 365 consecutive days

I met up with an old acquaintance for coffee yesterday. He’s an artist I knew from when I lived in Wyoming and he was heading back that direction after showing some work up in Vail. It was great to sit and chat with him because not only is he super nice, he is a great example of what can happen if you keep working at the thing you love.

I was really excited to be able to share my work with him and get some feedback. We talked about some different ways I could experiment with my pierced paper pieces – including really pushing the holes further to create more form. So when I got back yesterday I spent some time staring at a marble and poking holes to try to capture the little sphere.

Overall I’m pretty happy with it. There is room for improvement, but the exercise was good in that it let me see I can really push the paper much farther than expected.

You can buy this piece!
