Unusual to say the least, but certainly all his own. Most who looked upon his oddly shaped auricles judged them to be far and away his best feature.
Sure there were the few who smirked and held their noses high. Even they though, could not deny the impression left upon gazing at such peculiar lobes.

The details were integral as the story unfolded, and she prided herself on knowing each and every one. Each line and color and word that was spoke – each movement and person, all garnered a starring role in her memory.
For her, every last ounce of recollection provided ornament to the already decorated feather in her cap. Which is exactly what she preferred.

As of yesterday, I have officially been alive 35 years. Not an exorbitant amount of time, and based on the fact that my grandma is still rockin it at 96, I like to think I have many years ahead.
My 35th year has been one of enormous growth. I base this on the fact that I have chosen to dedicate myself to being an artist. While not a huge money making endeavor, I really believe it has brought more to my life than any job I could have taken ever would have. Plus, when people ask what I do, I get to tell them I make art.
I recognize that the arting path I have chosen would have been umpteen times more difficult if it weren’t for the lovely folks in my life who have, for some odd reason, decided they’d back me up and be my cheerleaders along this adventure. So for day 199’s art, I opted to make a birthday cake (albeit a very abstract one) whose candles are held up by little circular blobs. I feel pretty strongly that without all of the fabulous people in my life (aka circular blobs), much of this craziness that I have opted to take a stab at would have been done with much more struggle. Heck, maybe it wouldn’t have been done at all. So thanks to all of you who help hold up my candles. Here’s to many more adventurous years!

While waves and water provided him a life, he felt most at home among the trees. Each leaf a shelter for his thoughts. The rustling and swaying of branches music for his soul.
So attached to the trees was he, that upon each ascent, he imagined his wings were made of leaves. Playing music in the wind. Bringing comfort in flight.

It was a big day for us yesterday. We took our first road trip in Gertrude – our new home/RV! Although the Wyoming wind did shake us around a bit, overall the trip was smooth as a baby’s butt.
Box, the cat, handled the drive as decently as you would expect a feline might (not great – but he also didn’t pee or puke anywhere, which is a win in my book).
And eventually we made it to our friends house where we enjoyed dinner and a fabulous night of board games and dancing. All in all, an excellent adventure!

Yesterday I sat down to look for images on the web and came across this amazing image of an Australian Sundew. It was breathtaking. As I read about it, I found it even more amazing. The innocent looking thing is actually sticky and carnivorous!
I was immediately inspired to create this small piece. I loved the form of the flower and wanted to draw something with even more depth and a fuller set of globular pieces. I think this piece would be fun on a larger scale as well – perhaps painted with watercolors.

The patterns and routines that make up our daily lives often go unnoticed. Based on habit or efficiency or ease, we follow along our set route, rarely veering off-course. Maybe this is because we’ve learned what works or what we know we like. Or perhaps it’s easier to go along as we always do – not stirring the pot of everyday life.
But now and again we get restless and decide to explore. Nay-saying the voice inside that warns of messing up the routine, we take a chance on something new.
