This painting is LONG overdue! I promised the dog/fish/landscape piece to someone an embarrassingly long time ago and am finally getting around to doing it. I wonder how shocked the recipient will be to get this sucker in the mail!

This is the stuff that amazes me about painters. With a finished piece, it’s hard enough imagining what went into imagining/creating it, but, with this early draft, I get astounded. How on earthy do you know that a varying streak of whitish paint will serve as both a good highlight for a right front paw and, eventually, as part of the overall structure of a noise, eye socket, flank, and ears. I know … experience. I am fascinated by the assembly of parts into a whole.
